Dr. Ed Angelini

Dr. Ed Angelini

For more than 42 years, Dr. Ed Angelini has been the face of Downtown Vision — and a smiling face at that!

“Eddie” from the Bronx (Etorre if you check his birth certificate) moved to Reno when he was 16. He attended the University of Nevada, Reno for his undergraduate degree and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. Dr. Angelini returned home to Reno at the age of 26 to begin his practice.

About Dr. Ed Angelini

Dr. Angelini treats his patients like family. He has built a practice that feels a bit like a sprawling family reunion. He endearingly calls many patients “kiddo,” a term that humors his more senior patients. This extended family keeps coming back year after year and generation after generation. At one point, Dr. Angelini was seeing five generations of one family. He has had patients ranging in age from 9 months to 102 (years, that is). The patients appreciate the familiarity, the comfort and the friendliness of Downtown Vision.

Over those 42 years, Dr. Angelini has experienced the evolution of eye care. He attends conferences and keeps up with current literature in his field. He has always been on the cutting edge of technology on all levels and has served as an investigator for many contact lens companies. Starting with the front desk, through pretesting and exams, to the optical shop, technology has become paramount. Downtown Vision has also embraced the growth in frame and lens choices, creating one of Reno’s most extensive selections in both products.

In March of 2018, Dr. Angelini retired from the eye care practice he built in Reno. But full-time retirement was short-lived for Dr. Angelini. He may not be a daily fixture in the office but he does work a couple of days a week and does fill in when other doctors are out.

Dr. Angelini does enjoy semi-retirement. He has been able to continue to travel, hike, visit with his children and grandchildren, as well as catching many San Francisco Giants and 49er games, and putzing around his yard.
